Monsters University Scares Up a Monstrous Opening

Pixar continues their streak of having each new film of theirs open at the #1 spot with Monsters University, which made an impressive $82 million at the domestic box office this weekend, simultaneously claiming the second place prize for highest Pixar opening ever, falling only behind 2010's Toy Story 3, which opened at a walloping $110 million.

Thus far, it seems as if Pixar's 14th feature film certainly has the potential to become the second or third highest grossing film to come out of the Emeryville-based studio. It might have some trouble breaking TS3's record, but audiences certainly seem to be pleased to have Mike and Sulley back on the silver screen.

Check out the latest TV spot for the film, and if you haven't already, go see Monsters University in theaters now!
